Participatory Action Research (PAR)

In contrast to conventional research methodology PAR emphasizes practical action and the active and equitable participation of the community of research. PAR is study with and for rather than of a community.  It recognizes the importance of people's lived experiences, approaches the gathering of knowledge as a collaborative process, and centers social and individual change.

Our work and our protocols have at its core the principles of the UN Rights of Indigenous People, Rights of Nature, and the UN Rights of Children.

You can find more detailed information on PAR in Alice McIntyre's book Participatory Action Research. Additionally, The Oxford Handbook of Indigenous Sociology is an excellent recently published book addressing climate crisis with diverse knowledges. A full bibliography on PAR and best principles of agencies and professionals is available upon request.
